 The P180 Avanti II is the latest development from one of the world's oldest aircraft manufacturers, Piaggio Aero Industries, and is the product of a detailed analysis of corporate aircraft customer requirements. It combines environmental sensitivity and exceptional operating economy; standards of passenger comfort and safety that are truly unique for an aircraft in its class.
Piaggio Aero Industries has introduced the Avanti II, a new model Avanti featuring enhanced avionics, speed, payload and cabin comfort. The first Avanti II will be delivered in 2005.
The flight deck will include Rockwell Collins Proline 21 avionics suite featuring three 10" x 8" liquid crystal adaptive flight displays, FMS 3000 flight management systems and AHS 3000 attitude heading reference system.
The Avanti II received certification for increasing maximum operating Mach (Mmo) to 0.70 and additionally, in the 2006 model year the upgraded Pratt & Whitney PT6-66B engines will be introduced, which will add 12 knots or more to the cruise speed at altitudes above 35,000 feet and push the maximum cruise speed to 398 knots.
The Avanti II also features an increase in maximum zero fuel weight from 9,500 lbs to 9,800 lbs and the maximum take-off weight from 11,550 lbs to 12,050 lbs and reduced empty weight. This increases the useful load by 1-2 passengers at longer ranges. Some Avanti II enhancements will eventually be made available for retrofit on the existing fleet.
Passengers will also enjoy upgraded cabin amenities, including a remodelled lavatory vanity and closet that adds space while reducing weight and an optional in flight entertainment system featuring DVD,CD, satellite radio and moving map displays.
The Avanti II achieves "near jet performance" with a speed of 398 kts and the ability to fly well above the weather up to its operational ceiling of 41,000 ft. While in flight, the spacious cabin sets new standards in comfort, smoothness and extremely low ambient noise level. The cabin is 6' (1.85m) wide and 5' 9" (1.75m) high, considerably wider and taller than some of the other business aircraft in its class. The cabin provides seating for seven passengers to travel in unprecedented first class comfort. The Avanti II is set apart from its competitors due to its ability to achieve a high level of performance, with a minimal noise footprint which permits it to operate out of peripheral airports with landing and take off distances that are simply unachievable in a comparably sized business jet.
